A client recently purchased a waterfront home in Tampa, Florida and approached Orders to create a new pool and shade structure fit for recreation, relaxation, and partying. Moreover, the client requested a structure taller than the house’s gable roof – so it becomes the new waterfront elevation of the home. The design-in-progress is a hybrid of disparate precedents: on one hand, Paul Rudolph’s classic Umbrella House, and on the other Superstudio’s Continuous Monument. An integrated hot tub and artificial waterfall enhance the vibe.
